  3. Course Scoring & Activities *Daily HW is not accepted late; however, larger projects are accepted late but each day it is late is a 10% deduction. After the 5th day late, a student can turn in the late project until the end of the unit for up to half credit. Daily HW & Class Assignments = 30% • eBook notes • Surveys • Psychsims • In-class demonstrations • Reading of current news articles related to psychology • Responses to essential questions • Video clips, movies, radio segments Assessments = 70% • Unit projects • Open-Note Quizzes • Tests – MC + Essay *Students will take a final 1st semester, but will not have a final 2nd semester. Instead all students will take a cumulative exam that will count as part of their 4th quarter grade.

AP Psych Exam • May 6, 2013 (First Day of AP Exams!) • Students will be notified in late April about registering for the test, how much it costs, etc. • Earn college credit or advanced standing at many post-secondary institutions • In addition to the review provided in class, many students find review books helpful, such asBarron's How to Prepare for the AP Psychology Advanced Placement Examination

Consciousness:Why is it so difficult to build a robot that can sense and perceive the world as we do? Social Psych: How does psychology explain the Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal or the GBN hazing Abnormal Psych: Is ADHD a genuine disorder or just a manifestation of normal high energy? Neuroscience: How does the mind-brain relationship explain the presence of evil and/or goodness in humans? • Scientific Method: How powerful and ethical is the placebo effect? • Development:If you were going to adopt a six year old child that had been given up at birth, and you had a choice to review either the orphanage care the child was raised in up to that point or the biological/medical history of the parents, which would you choose?
