  2. PapierMâché • French for “chewed paper” • Composite material consisting of paper pieces or pulp. • Paste: Glue/water, starch, flour/water, wallpaper paste • Material: newspaper, paper towels, toilet paper, cotton, etc…

Multiculturalism • Relates to communities containing multiple cultures. • Due to the arrival of immigrants to a community. • Top multi-cultural country: United States with more than 45 million immigrants. Russia #2 and Germany #3. Belgium has least: Around 1 million. • Niue is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, off New Zealand with only 100 immigrants.

  4. Dolls • A model of a human being, often used as a toy for children. Dolls being used as toys was documented in Greece around 100AD. • Used in magic and religious rituals throughout the world. • The earliest documented dolls go back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Greece and Rome. • Dolls made of plastic and porcelain (bisque) started in Germany around the 15th century. • Most famous doll in the world: The Barbie doll was invented in 1959 by Ruth Handler (co-founder of Mattel). Ken came two years later.
