When the Holocaust Was Over… • It Was Over On May 8, 1945 • They Called It V-E Day • They Were Called “Displaced Persons” • Finding New Homes For The Jews Was The Job Of The United Nations Relief And Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) • In 1947 The Job Was Passed On To The International Refugee Organization (IRO)

  4. Resettling The Survivors… • When The IRO Took Over In 1947, There Were Approximately 1,200,000 Jewish And Non- Jewish People Looking For Homes. • In The Next Few Years The IRO Was Able To Resettle About A Million Jews.
