Suicide Sites • Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, California - over 1,500 suicides • Beachy Head, East Sussex, England, United Kingdom - about 500 suicides • Prince Edward Viaduct, Toronto, Ontario, Canada - over 400 suicides, but none since the completion of the Luminous Veil suicide barrier in 2003 • Eiffel Tower, Paris, France - about 350 suicides • Coronado Bridge, San Diego, California - more than 200 suicides (1972 - 2000) and many more after[1] • Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Taos, New Mexico • Aurora Bridge, Seattle, Washington – over 230 suicides since 1932,[1] with over 50 from 1997-2007[2] • Jacques Cartier Bridge, Montreal, Quebec, Canada - over 143 suicides. Suicide barriers have been erected in 2003. • Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney, Australia - about 40 suicides • The Gap, New South Wales, Sydney, Australia - about 50 suicides annually • Empire State Building, New York, New York - at least 32 suicides • Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne - at least 20 suicides • Montreal Metro, Montreal, Quebec, Canada - over 129 suicides • Niagara Falls • Humber Bridge 195 deaths, 5 people have jumped but survived. • Mexico City Metro, Mexico City, Mexico • Cliffs of Moher, County Clare, Republic of Ireland • Vienna U-Bahn, Vienna, Austria • Main Building of The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas - 9 (does not include Charles Whitman shootings) [2] • Sunshine Skyway Bridge, Tampa Bay, Florida - at least 90 suicides • Aokigahara, Mount Fuji, Japan - averages around 70 suicides per year • Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol, England - 127 between 1974 and 1993 plus many more before and after • Göltzschtalbrücke, Reichenbach (Vogtland), Germany • Gateway Bridge, Brisbane, Australia - suicide barriers have since been erected. • Bosphorus Bridge, Istanbul, Turkey - Pedestrians are not allowed on the bridge. • Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, Pakistan • Vasterbron, Stockholm, Sweden - number is not known but should exceed a few hundred. • Grafton Bridge, Auckland, New Zealand - suicide barriers have since been erected

Suicide & Age • Children-500 a yr, 14 and under in US, stabbing, cutting, burning, overdosing, jumping from high places • After one runs away, aggression, acting out, personality changes • 6-33% thought about suicide • Adolescents-2,000 in US, 3rd cause of death • 50% have thought about it • Triggers”parents, illness, boyfriend/girlfriend • Elderly-19% over 65, ill, lose family/friends/control, 1 in 4 succeeds
