Budget needs for 10/11 45% estimated increase in health insurance Elementary – additional $221,977 High School – additional $135,358 Increases teacher salaries after cuts Elementary – savings of $91,701 after cuts High School- additional $75,271 Increases in utilities? Special Education costs will increase at end of 2011 at the end of the ARRA Stimulus funds

Projected Impact of Elementary Levy Current Elementary General Fund Levy- $4,961,219 Possible Levy- Elem. $137,678 Budget for 2010-2011 Levy $5,081,316 No levy Elementary General $4,943,427 Loss of Funds -$17,792 Increase percentage .02% The budget authority increase will enable the school to maintain current programs.

Projected Impact of High School Levy Current High School General Fund Levy- $3,033,033 Possible Levy- High School $29,806 Budget for 2010-2011 Levy $3,033,033 Additional Funds- $00,000 No levy High School General $3,003,426 Loss of Funds -$29,608 We must keep our budget authority at the current level to maintain current programs. DCHS lost $96,730 in budget authority since 2008.

  9. Previous Cuts to Budgets Elementary: Previous cuts - Staff travel, limit supplies, cut professional development, Para in middle school, cut wood shop teacher in middle school. Four elementary positions through retirements in 2010. High School: Previous Cuts - Staff cut one English teacher, one business teacher, ½ German teacher, cut two full time secretary positions, cut two Para educator positions, cut all athletic supplies, staff travel, professional development, limit supplies. Proposed cut is one business teacher in 2010.

Commercial Kitchen, Gym Tresses

Building Needs for Next 5 Years Elementary: Jefferson: Playground equipment, window replacements, roof repairs, lighting Lincoln: Electrical upgrades, classroom remodel. window replacements, heating controls, classroom flooring, lighting. Washington: Electrical upgrades, window replacements, cafeteria ceiling, lighting. DCHS: Add foyer to north gym entrance, digital heating controls, classroom upgrades.

  15. May 4 Levy Election Elementary General Fund Levy- $137,889 High School General Fund Levy- $29,806 Remember, only one election, not three as in the past.
