Reflect and Connect Pg 65 (1-4) What are the similarities and differences between your team’s recipe and the other team’s recipe and the other team’s recipe? • There were four substances in each bottle. • Alcohol, • water, • baby oil, and • dye • There were only 2 layers because some of the substance s are soluble in each other. • In the green bottle the alcohol, water and dye are soluble in each other. • In the red bottle the alcohol and the water are soluble but not the oil. The dye in the red is soluble in oil.

  3. Reflect and Connect Pg 65 (1-4) Did dye #1 and dye #2 dissolve the same way in all substances? What effect did any differences have on your recipe? • There were 4 substances in each bottle. Why were there only two layers? Explain your reasoning by referring to your table. Some substances are soluble in each other. The different had different solubility's. This affected the recipe because coloring the top layer versus the bottom layer is an important part of your design. So the design changes depending on which color you want on top

(no nasty sandwiches ) • Remember ALL data you collect will be written in your data table • What are you measuring? • How are you measuring it? • How do you graph? • What are your maximum and minimum amounts? • What is a line of best fit? • What do your conclusions say? What do they mean?
