PALM SUNDAY : THE FULFILMENT OF KEY PROPHECIES The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: 'Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD! The King of Israel!'” (John 12:12-13)

  2. PROPHECY OF JESUS -THE PASSOVER LAMB Isaiah 53• 3: He was despised and rejected by men 5: But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities. 7: He was led like a lamb to the slaughter

THE IRONIES OF PALM SUNDAY • THE JEWS CHEERED HIM, BUT CRUCIFIED HIM 4 DAYS LATER • THEY SHOUTED ‘HOSANNA’ (SAVE US) BUT SAW HIM NOT AS MANKIND’S ULTIMATE SAVIOUR. • THEY DID NOT SEE THAT JESUS WAS GIVING THEM SALVATION, RECONCILIATION AND ETERNAL LIFE INSTEAD OF HELL / DAMNATION He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free Luke 4:18 (NLT)

THE ULTIMATE SAVIOUR DELIVERED MAN FROM: • THE KINGDOM OF SATAN , • DEATH IN HELL, • A LIFE OF SIN : Rom. 6:6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. OPENED UP A NEW PATHWAY OF VICTORY AND FREEDOM : • SALVATION • RECONCILIATION WITH GOD THE FATHER • ETERNAL LIFE Luke 4:18. : He died to set the captives free - He died on the Cross, took upon Himself all our sins, to set you and I completely free!

THE PASSOVER MEAL Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Pick out and take lambs for yourselves according to your families, and kill the Passover lamb. And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out of the door of his house until morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever. It will come to pass when you come to the land which the Lord will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service.    Exodus 12:21-28

JESUS THE SUBSTITUTIONARY LAMB • FIVE DAYS BEFORE THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS TO BE SACRIFICED, IT WAS CHOSEN • THE PASSOVER LAMB WAS TO BE A "MALE WITHOUT DEFECT” • THE LAMB’S BLOOD WAS DRAINED, THEN SPRINKLED ON THE LINTEL, THE TOP OF THE DOOR, ON THE SIDE-POST • THE LAMB WAS TO BE ROASTED • NONE OF THE LAMB’S BONES WERE TO BE BROKEN • THE LAMB WAS THEN EATEN

THE ‘NEW’ PASSOVER MEAL Jesus took some bread and blessed it. then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “take this and eat it, for this is my body.”27and he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to god for it. he gave it to them and said “each of you drink from it,28for this is my blood which confirms the covenant between god and his people. it is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. MATT 26:26-28 (NLT)

  8. SHARING THE LAMB "IF THE LAMB IS TOO LARGE FOR ONE HOUSE TO CONSUME, THEN, GATHER OTHERS TOGETHER AND SHARE THE LAMB!" EXO 12:3 GOD CALLS ALL NATIONS TO SHARE THE LAMB!

  9. PALM SUNDAY: START OF OUR PASSOVER PALM SUNDAY : START OF AN INCREDIBLE MIRACLE OF OUR VICTORY Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.” )37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:35-37 (NLT)
