Family was thought to be the center of everything. • Filial Piety: oldest male the head of the family, children obey & take care of grandparents, each child has a different responsibility in the house. • Valued sons over daughters & women had little rights& obeyed husbands & mother in-law. • In a chaotic time with no one in control (warring states period) led to people questioning life & create new was of thinking/ living or philosophies.
