  2. FOOD • Bread was very important in the ancient Egyptian diet. Harvested grain was stored in huge granaries until needed . The Egyptians favourite drink was beer.it was very thick and had to be strained before drinking.

  3. THE FARMERS YEAR • The farmers year was divided into three seasons the flood ,the • growing and the harvest. Most people worked on the land but • farmers could not work between JULY and NOVEMBER because • the land was covered by flood waters. Instead they went off to • help build the pyramids and royal palaces.

  4. BUILDING THE PYRAMIDS • Pharaohs ordered men to build a pyramid and they would do that . A hole pile of men would be carrying blocks with a wooden sledge . The pyramid had a structure the base the middle and the point. When the pyramid was built they would put a coating of white paint to protect the stone under it.

  5. WAR AND ENEMIES • Foot soldiers carried metal swords and spears. Some soldiers had leather armour to protect themselves. Specially trained soldiers fired arrows from their bows while riding in horse drawn chariots. People fighting at war could be caught for a slave.

  6. DRESSING UP • Egyptians wore lucky charms called amulets. The charms were meant to protect the wearer from evil spirits and to bring good luck. One of the most popular ones was the eye of the god horus. Rich people wore expensive clothes.Poor people wore rags.

  7. HOW CHILDREN LEARMED • Children learned many skills from their parents and neighbours. They were taught fishing, farming and hunting. They learned which were the best foods to eat. They were showed how to build homes. Some were shown how to make papyrus. Rich went to school the poor didn’t.

  8. THE EGYPTIAN HIERARCY • The most powerful person in Egypt was the pharaoh. • Pharaoh labours • slaves • Priests • Nobles • Merchants • Crafts people • Farmers
