  2. The delivery of Learning Support Services is based on the individual needs of each student as determined by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Team. The IEP Team, consisting (minimally) of the classroom teacher, learning support teacher, parents, and a local education agency representative, shares the responsibility for implementing the IEP for each student. What is Learning Support?

  3. For students who are able to make meaningful progress toward their individualized goals within the general education setting, Learning Support Services may consist of consultation with classroom teachers to provide necessary accommodations and monitor student progress. Where are students instructed?

  4. Students who require specially designed instruction within a small group setting to make meaningful progress receive the services addressing their area(s) of need (reading, writing, math) in a learning support classroom. Where are students instructed?

  5. The level of student need determines the level of support to be provided. • Please check your child’s IEP under section VI. Educational Placement How do I know where my child is being instructed and the level of support?

  8. Explicit instruction in sentence structure • Teaching of writing craft and grammar through mentor texts • Use of Four Square Writing Method to help with organization of ideas • Spelling instruction Language Arts

  9. Saxon Math Program-Levels 1 and 2 • Components of a Saxon Lesson: • Math Meeting • Fact Practice • New Learning • Guided Practice • Homework Math

  10. Approximately 10 minutes per grade level (ex. 2nd grade= 20 minutes of homework) • Spelling-Words of the Week • Words are copied in the homework book on Monday • Words are rule based • Practiced in class and for homework • Spelling test Friday Homework

  11. Reading • Independent reading in a “Just Right Book” • MRI Code and Read Sheet • Sight Word Practice • Math • Saxon Fact Practice-Side B • Saxon Guided Practice-Side B Homework

Each student will have an annual IEP Meeting • Meetings are scheduled in advance to help avoid conflicts and maintain compliance • Progress reports on IEP goals and objectives are sent home every 9 weeks • As part of the monthly newsletters, each section of the IEP is explained in detail IEP’s
