We will plug in MD office EMRs as they come online. PHASE III - Future By Fall, 2011 and beyond – add other value-added MSCHIE-products services- replaced by MS-HIN strategy

Data Sharing • ADT • Discharge Summary • OP Medication History (HCS) • Lab Results, Transcribed Reports, Radiology Reports (testing) • Provider Office Results Distribution • Community Master Person Index – link/match ID’s • Imaging- planned • Ambulatory EMRs: Memorial Physician Clinics going online in 2010 and 2011

  4. Operational Importance • Clinical- GAME CHANGER. ED, Admission, Pharmacy, Pre-Op • Operational- Workflow, Case Management, Reduce Redundant workup, medication reconciliation • Financial- cost per case, ALOS

  5. Strategic Importance • Physician Alignment infrastructure- “the outer ring” • Bundling, 30 day readmissions • An HIE provides infrastructure to lower your risk of what MedPAC advocates: • Bundling, 30 day readmissions, care coordination • Medical Home, Accountable Care Organizations

  6. Lessons Learned/Future • Multi-level engagement is key • “Coopetition” Works • HIE improves care. Ask our ED doctors. • Lack of care coordination becomes painfully evident • Health Information exchange- valuable • Services to coordinate care and provide alerts of needs for evidence based interventions- Towards building a statewide Health Improvement exchange- invaluable
