DREU: Program Logistics • Try to send at least two students to each institution - provide a built in buddy • Can request a particular mentor/student, but not always honored • Provide travel grants for student to present conference to present DREU work Applications are due Feb 15 Awards announced in March

DREU: Program Milestone • Four milestones to monitor progress during summer • Stipend 1 (ASAP): Student & Mentor agree on dates, student submits signed contract to CRA • Stipend 2 (~2 weeks): Student starts website that will document their DMP experience • Stipend 3 (~5 weeks): Student & Mentor complete progress reports • Stipend 4 (at end): Student submits final website (archived on CRA) and completes exit survey, and mentor submits final report

CREU: Program Logistics • Multidisciplinary projects OK (as long as significant computational component) • Up to $1500 for student travel (to present work at conference) and/or supplies • Includes travel grant for student to attend a conference designated as a “CREU Cohort” meeting place (for 2009-10, it is GHC 2010) Applications are due May 1 Awards announced in June

  7. CREU: Academic-Year-Only Projects Five milestones to monitor progress during academic year - completion of each (except first) triggers a stipend payment. Milestone 1 (early Sept): Project verification and website Milestone 2 (mid-Oct): Mentor provides a brief report on research progress Milestone 3 (late Dec): Students and mentors submit midyear progress reports Milestone 4 (mid-Mar): Mentor provides a brief report on research progress Milestone 4 (mid-May): Student submits final website completes exit survey, and mentor submits final report

  8. CREU: Academic-Year + Summer Five milestones to monitor progress during academic year - but May milestone is a brief progress report, rather than a final report. Two summer milestones Milestone 1 (late June): Mentors provide brief reports on research progress Milestone 2 (mid-Aug): Students submit final websites (archived on CRA) and complete exit survey, and mentors submit final report
