Troop 1600 Meetings • Troop Meetings – Every Monday at Jordan UCC from 7:00 – 8:30 PM • Patrol Meetings – patrols meet during the regular Monday troop meetings • Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) – monthly with a special yearly planning event (second Monday of each month) • Court of Honor – held 4 times per year to formally recognize achievement and advancement. Troop, committee, and family members are encouraged to attend. • Scoutmasters’ Meetings – Monthly – First Tuesday of each Month. Used to help divide up responsibilities between the adult leaders of the troop. • Committee Meetings – Monthly – Third Tuesday of each Month. These meetings are open.

Good Meetings • Troop meeting plan reviewed in advance • Start on-time • Take charge and stay focused • Keep things moving • Respect the input of all participants • Praise patrols when they have done something well • Leadership team needs to support one another • Don’t wear out activities (i.e. Games) • End on-Time • Review each meeting to see what can be improved

Basic Troop Meeting Plan • Pre-Opening – activity starts 15 minutes before the meeting • Opening (5 minutes) • Skills Instruction or Demonstration (15-20 minutes) • Patrol Meetings (15-20 minutes) • Inter Patrol Activity – Game (15-20 minutes) • Closing – Scoutmaster Minute • Meeting Evaluation

  7. Troop Meeting Planning Form • SPL to coordinate • Plans developed during monthly PLC meeting • Shared Leadership!

  8. Patrol Meetings • Review advancement of Patrol members • Plan for upcoming activities and make assignments • Prepare a Patrol Leaders report for the monthly PLC meeting • Vote on issues that need to be decided • Build Patrol spirit – yell, flag, song, logo, etc.

Patrol Leaders Council • Monthly – move to 5:45 PM prior Troop meeting • Run as a Meeting by the SPL • Opening – Call to Order • Roll Call and Reading of Minutes (Scribe) • Patrol Reports (PL’s) – summary progress of the Patrol • Old Business (SPL) – any remaining “open” items from the last meeting • Big Event Planning (SPL & PL’s) – coming month event • Troop Meeting Planning (SPL) – review the next four troop meeting plans, assign responsibilities. • New Business (SPL) • Scoutmaster’s Minute (SM or ASM) • Evaluate how it went • Communicate information to all Troop members
