Different Types of Forklifts • Forklift is a high power industrial vehicle which is used to move material from one place to another in a workplace. • Forklift is also known as a forklift truck or forklift hoist in different regions of Australia and New Zealand. Back in 1917, the Clark Company created a truck to move materials around their factory. • After few years the Clark Company added a hydraulic lift to some of the trucks. In 1923, the Yale Company added the fork in the trucks and used it for lifting loads around the workplace.

  3. Types of Forklifts: • Forklifts or industrial trucks are classified into following types- 1. Counterbalance Forklift 2. Electric Forklift 3. Industrial Counterbalance Forklift 4. Rough Terrain Forklift

  4. Different Types of Forklifts • Counterbalance forklifts are the trucks which are most commonly used to handle the material in the workplaces. It consists of dual forks for moving heavy and bulky loads. While electric forklifts are those which use an electric motor instead of the internal combustion engine for their operations. Electric Forklifts work on power batteries or external power sources. • Industrial Counterbalance Forklift is the most common used forklift trucks in the indoor parts of the industry or workplace. Although they also can be used outdoors and surfaces. For proper operation of such forklifts, a number of recognized training organizations provide Forklift Training Coursesin Sydney and surrounding areas. For rough and terrain surfaces, the Rough Terrain Forklift is highly recommended. Such forklifts are easily operable in the uneven surfaces.

Employment Opportunities with Forklift: • By attaining a Forklift Licence in NSW, one can start earning around $15 per hour. • The income will vary as per location and experience, experience forklift operators can earn $25 per hour.
