  1. HKIS Interim 2007 New Zealand:Rangitikei Canoe ExpeditionMarch 18-23

  2. For ADVENTURERS ! Canoe camping and expeditioneering are lifelong activities, opening up access to the most beautiful places on the planet.

  3. You and your partner will paddle your own canoe, carrying your own gear and some camp gear.

  4. Licensed guides will accompany us. Excellent quality equipment is used, Personalized Instruction will be provided.

  5. Our river venue is New Zealand’s seldom-run RANGITIKEI River. (Class II: easy with small rapids that do not require previous skill) We fly into and out of Wellington.

  6. The river has lots of small rapids…

  7. And a few big ones that we cannot run, but will have to carry our gear and boats around.

  8. We will travel about 80 miles of river in five days, camping along the shore, cooking our own meals and learning the art of canoe camping and expeditioneering.

  9. There will be plenty of time to enjoy camp, hike, learn about the river…

  10. or just enjoy the scenery…

  11. …and of course, to learn how to canoe whitewater and flatwater.

  12. Those who like to fish can attempt to catch a legendary New Zealand Trout. (5 kilo Rangitikei trout)

  13. We will be sleeping under the beautiful Southern Hemisphere stars in a tent (provided).

  14. And cooking great outdoors meals on an open fire…

  15. Canoeing is a lifelong sport, for all ages

  16. You will need to bring: • Clothes for on-river • Tevas or other sport sandals • Hiking shoes • Raingear • Sleeping bag • Personal items

  17. You will NOT need to bring: • River equipment (boats, paddles, etc, will be provided) • Camping gear (tents, groundpad provided) • Waterproof bags (provided) • Any canoeing or camping experience
