  1. (STOTLER, 2019) LESSONS IN PSYCHOLOGY FROM CLINICAL ISSUES OF CHRONIC ILLNESS LESSONS IN PSYCHOLOGY FROM CLINICAL ISSUES OF CHRONIC ILLNESS: : PSYCHOLOGY OF: Over the Counter (OTC) Drugs Are some prescription drugs appropriate to bring to OTC status? (March, 2019) This is a touchy topic we are covering. I personally think that they should abandon this idea and in the place of this, they should start lower the credential standards for clinicians who can prescribe medication. Why is it that the FDA or the government can one day release drugs or medicines that have been scheduled drugs before then, which may have been vital to many people's health, and being it so, perhaps may have caused pain and suffering because of the prescription process, and the inability for some people to get the medicines when they needed it? Why or how would it be justified if the government were to "let these drugs loose," while even people that know the sciences needed to prescribe some drugs are unable to do so. This seems absurd when we say that a psychologist cannot legally prescribe a 30 minute treatment under an LED light, but on the other side of this, every pharmacy and store capable of holding a drug in an upright position, can supply the drug to nearly and in some cases with no limiting capacity? I think these movements need revised, over the counter drugs and prescribed drugs are all drugs, and we have set laws for drugs for great purpose. I hope they are before these politics are implemented. We have had the freedom in this manner to schedule our drugs and control drug problems this way, lets either higher more professionals to prescribe or leave the drugs "controlled substances." How about "hey your a doctor," "hey you're qualified now to handle a doctor's problems." To Whom it may, This is a really huge point that you made; insurance prices and insurance acknowledgement is vital for many people. This could essentially drive people to be unable to afford what they really need. What a

  2. (STOTLER, 2019) scary politic that many people will not think of until it is too late. I did not think of such thing until you mentioned this! This is a really great argument and will be valuable! Jacob Stotler To Whom it may, What a great example of this process. I wasn't familiar with any of this process, but I did think of caffeine. Caffeine is at least potent and it is effective for many things, perhaps the prescription process is also due to clinicians and scientists being able to accurately pinpoint what the person needs, and assisting the person with the "advice" of the medicine when in fact they could have been unaware that the pharmaceutical drug could help with some disorder or symptom at all. Such that caffeine could be prescribed for shortness of breath. Did we all know this? Probably not. But there is another side, where drugs also may cause allergy flare ups, or be dangers, or affect certain areas of functioning that we did not intend to influence. There is a lot of science to this, I don't think we should take any power from doctors, or empower more people that don't care much for research, or accuracy, I think we should give more doctors the power. Good post.
