  2. Monday, May 23rd • Directions: Copy the following notes for SENTENCES in your Writing Section of your Binder. • Sentence • A sentence expresses a complete thought. A sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a punctuation mark (! ? . …) • A fragment does NOT express a complete thought. • Sometimes a subject (who or what) is missing. Example: My likes to snowboard. • Sometimes a verb (action word) is missing. • Example: Stan, Sara, and Chan to snowboard. • Don’t confuse an imperative sentence with a fragment. Example: Go! (The subject you is implied).

  3. Tuesday, May 24th • Directions: Copy the following sentences in your DOL notebook. Underline the subject once and the verb twice. If it is missing one, write FRAGMENT. • Your shirt is torn. • Next time. • A white, fluffy, kitty purred at our feet. • Old oak tree down. • Antonio mowed the grass in their yard.
