  2. Locations of Temperate Rainforest • Temperate Rainforest can be located in the North America, Chile, and parts of Australia.

  3. Climate The graph to the left displays average temperature with rainfall in Great Otway National Park( Victoria, Australia). Based upon the graph this temperate rainforest receives very little rain.

  4. Physical Characteristics • Precipitation falls at least 200 cm a year (350 cm in warmer areas). • Average temperate is above 0 degrees Celsius, influenced by the oceans nearby. The warmest part of the region has an average temp. of 20 degrees Celsius . • The areas that these temperate rainforest can be found is along the coast of North America, Chile, New Zealand and Australia mostly areas that are offshore where waters can affect the climate. • Soil is rich due to organic material on the ground is being broken down by decomposers such as bacteria and insects.

  5. Animal Life • Unlike tropical rainforest, temperate rainforest have animals such as bears , raccoons, mink, bobcat, mountain loins and deer. • Most animals in this biome live close to the ground or live near it.

  6. PlantLife • Coniferous trees including the Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar. • Deciduous trees are found in warmer spots such as the Big Leaf Maple. • Mosses and Lichens are also found in temperate rainforest.

  7. Interesting Information! • When trees grow to their full length, they are between 130 to 280 feet tall. • Temperate Rainforest used to exist on almost every continent of the world, but now only 50% - 75 million of these acres remain! • Unlike tropical rainforest temperate rainforest do have a change of seasons.
