  3. Communication • Head Coach/Team Manager • Please communicate issues through Division Director, then Hockey/A.C.E. Director. • Still no response – please contact League President. • Collect consent to treat forms; Coaches need to keep all consent to treat forms with them ( in Coach’s Handbook ) for all on ice activity. • Conduct a Team Meeting with parents & players within first 2 weeks of season - communicate goals and expectations - answer questions. • Notify players & parents of Team Picture night – tentatively scheduled for end of October. • Report all disciplinary & injury incidents ASAP to your Division Director. • Game Sheets • Coaches need to keep copy of game sheet on file (This is mandatory). • Communicate schedule with parents and players.

Calendar Raffle • This year KPW will be conducting its 3rd Calendar Raffle. • This year we included a $100 fundraising fee in the tuition. • Players have already paid for their 10 tickets. • Players will keep any money collected from sold tickets to reimburse them for the $100 fundraising fee. • We need you to: • Distribute the 10 tickets to each player – date TBD. • Collect sold ticket stubs – date TBD. • Winning tickets will be drawn for each of the 31 days in January 2010. The player who sells the winning ticket for each day in January will have his/her name entered for a chance to win a free 2010-2011 KPW tuition. If you sell more than one of the winning tickets, you will be entered as many times as the number of winning tickets you sell. • More details to follow soon from Delila Byrnes.

NVL • We have the following teams playing in the NVL League • KPW Midget 1 & 2 • Bantam (mixed team 1-3) • Pee Wee A Team (mixed team 1-3) • Squirt A Team (mixed team 1-2) • Squirt B Team (mixed team 3-6) • Mite A Team (mixed team 1-3) • This league is in addition to the KPW Westboro league (with the exception of the two Midget teams). • They play a 22 game schedule and 3 playoff games. • KPW Westboro schedule takes priority when conflicts. • We may need to have another team and/or players fill in when scheduling conflicts arise.

Goalie Focus • Multiple On Ice Goalie Clinics with Brian Eklund throughout the season. • In the process of scheduling • Coach from each team should attend all sessions • Coaches will assign an Assistant coach to focus on goalie at practice, games and clinics. • Need to develop their skills during practice - not just used as target practice • Multiple Goalie work out sessions throughout the season • Every 6 weeks • Focus is a 4 station workout • Need coaches to help run these session

Team Rosters TEAM ROSTERS • Roster Signing • All Players and Coaches must sign BOTH COPIES of the roster (1 with addresses, 1 without addresses). • Mail (or drop off) BOTH SIGNEDORIGINALS (no copies) to: Dave Galetta 24 Lafayette Lane Norfolk, MA 02056 • Deadlines. All completed and signed rosters are due to Dave G by: • Midgets – SEPT 4, 2009 • Bantams – SEPT 11, 2009 • PeeWees & Squirts – OCT 10, 2009 • Mites / Instructional – N/A. Signed rosters not required. * Missed deadlines will mean exclusion from State Playdowns

State Playdowns • State Playdowns / Tournaments • All Head Coaches MUST attend the Coaches Meetings as scheduled: • Midgets: Sept/15/08 7:00 PM – Canton Rink • Bantams: Sept/22/08 7:30 PM – Canton Rink • PW-Squirts: Nov/11/08 7:00 PM – Canton KofC • All State Playdown and Tournament details will be distributed at these meetings (schedules, locations, rules, etc.).

Tournaments • Tournament Team Rosters • $20 for new Team “Stamped” roster. • Tournaments may accept multiple “stamped” team rosters for mixed teams. • Contact Dave G w/ questions. • Tournament Travel • All out of state travel scheduled after 1/1/09 needs to be communicated to Division Director prior to Westboro’s 2nd realignment meeting – usually early December for January forward schedule. Westboro only accommodates schedule requests for Out of State Travel, not in state tournaments. • Travel Permits • Required for all OUT OF TOWN tournaments (Lake Placid, Rhode Island, Waterville Valley, etc.). • $5 payable directly to MassHockey by TEAM. • Forms available at www.masshockey.com • Contact Dave G. for info, or see MassHockey Guide Book • Lead time: • 3 weeks - $5 fee • Less = $50 rush fee.

Coach’s Handbook • These materials have been developed with the intent to help coaches preparation and organization. • Reinforce a consistent approach (the KPW Way) to all our activities. • Drill diagrams • Core Drills • Skills Drills • Situational Drills • These drills are included to get you started, future versions will be more tailored to specific age groups. • Template forms • Practice plans • Line charts • Consent to Treat • CORIs • Travel Permit Forms • Awards • Other useful materials • Age-specific Skills Progressions (adapted from USA Hockey materials). • Space to retain copies of your Official Rosters and other documents (e.g., Consent to Treat).

Ice - Schedule • We scheduled all teams to have at least three practices before their first game. • If you are not going to use a sheet that has been scheduled for your team, let Rocky know so that he can try and assign to another team. • We do not control the league schedules, but let Rocky know if you have a conflict and he will try and work to get games rescheduled. • We do our best and to try to get everyone the same amount of practice ice. • We will send out emails to the head coaches when we have an extra sheet of ice.

KPW Equipment • Coaches are responsible for Game Jerseys and Equipment provided their team at start of season. • Games Jerseys are to be worn for games/pictures only (proper care/storage when not being used). • KPWYHA has "no nametag or patch" policy for it's Game Jerseys. • Post Season - Coaches return all Game Jerseys and Equipment to KPW Equipment Manager. • Post Season Returns: • Game Jerseys WASHED and Folded (or on hangers) in number order. • Coaches Bag • Water Bottle Holder • Cones • Goalie Equipment - if provided (Mites/Squirts) • Pinnie Shirts - if provided • Remaining Pucks • Any Unopened First Aid Kits or Helmet Repair Hardware
