  2. NEW JERSEY CORE CURRICULUM STANDARDS • Hampton School follows the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards in Visual Arts. • NJCCS visual art # 1.3 is stressed in grades K- 8. All students will utilize art elements and art media to produce artistic products • Varied activities are used for the students to understand and learn color theory. These are introduced in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The use of video,audio,interactive,hands on,and lecture are used. • Art History is stressed through fun and interesting hands on activities and projects. • All projects are kept in the students portfolio in grades K-8.   3. Art Program K-8 • Portfolio Portfolio work is very important to the critiquing process. NJCCS # 4 States that All students will demonstrate the knowledge of critiquing . We do this by reviewing our work and discussing it. All students are given a portfolio in Kindergarten. The student keeps all art work in the portfolio. At the end of the year each student chooses their favorite project to keep in the portfolio. All other projects go home. Mrs. Burd then chooses her favorite to add to the portfolio. By the time the student reaches grade eight they will have a portfolio of all their elementary age art work. This will be approximately 18 pieces. In grade eight gifted art students put together a CD Rom PowerPoint presentation of their work to accompany them to the High School. COLOR THEORY - HAMPTON SCHOOL MRS. BURD

COLOR THEORY K-5 • Projects include the use of different medium. paint colored pencils markers pastels chalk crayons NJCCS #1.6 All students will develop design, artistic, technological skills for planning the form and function of space, structures, objects, sound and events.
