  3. “ Faults form in rocks when the stresses overcome the internal strength of the rock resulting in a fracture. A fault can be defined as the displacement of once connected blocks of rock along a fault plane.” Strike-slip faults are a type of fault associated with plate movement.

  4. Earthquakes are sudden movements of the Earth that occur when energy built up in the lithosphere over long time periods is released. The energy radiates in all directions from the source or focus of the earthquake in the form of seismic waves.
