  3. Words to Know: Testament: Promise Prophet: One who speaks God’s Word Evangelist: One who speaks or writes the Gospel Apostle: One sent by Jesus as His messenger Epistle: A letter written to someone

  4. John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.   What the Bible is: 2 Timothy 3:16 • 1. God inspired (breathed into) the human writers I Corinthians 2:13 Revelation 22:18 2. God chose every word of the Bible. This is called verbal (word-for-word) inspiration. 3. All Scripture is 100% true and from God. 4. In it God tells us all we need to know about Him and our salvation. 5. The Bible is the Word of God and not to be tampered with.

  5. The Value of the Bible: Romans 3:20 Romans 6:23 • 1. It gives us God’s Law (commands), which shows we are sinful and condemned to death and need a Savior. • 2. It gives us the Gospel (good news), which shows us we have a Savior. • 3. It leads us to trust in Jesus as our personal Savior. Romans 10:17

  7. How we should use the Bible: • Read and study it prayerfully in private • Gladly hear and learn it in church • Trust and obey what • we learn in it Acts 17:11 Hebrews 10:25 Luke 11:28
