  8. What is status registration? - Status registration refers to the acknowledge of your status as an incoming exchange student at UIBE. When and where should I go for registration? - September 2nd-3rd, 2019: 8:30am - 11:00am & 1:30pm - 4:30pm - Lobby of International Plaza B Does every exchange student need to do it? - Yes! It is compulsory for each exchange student.

On the Registration Day... • New Student： • Passport • Visa application form (JW202/201 form) • Admission notice • Accommodation registration form* • Mobile phone number in China • 6 photos of 2-inch with white-background with no hat • Returning Student： • Passport • Student ID or E-card • Other documents which concern with visa issue * For students who check in at International Plaza (On-campus dormitory & Off-campus hotel) , please bring a receipt from International Plaza * For students who have their own arrangement: • Hotel: bring your receipt from hotel • Rent: a comfirmation from local police station

Learning Agreement • Learning Agreement: a proof of course enrollment and final grade • GEEC will help you enroll in courses based on your learning agreement • GEEC will help you collect your final grades from SIE, SITE, and BS based on your learning agreement • About your Final Grade: • GEEC will send your final transcript to your home university in January, 2020 • A digital copy of your final transcript will be sent to your email • Class Withdraw: please inform us for any classes you drop off during the 2019 Fall semester

Registration module (choose ONLY one module): • Up to 6 business or economic courses fromSIE, SITE and BS • 20-hour Chinese course + up to 2 other business or economic courses • 6-hour Chinese course + up to 4 other business or economic courses • At most 6 courses for Fall 2019 • 20-hour Chinese course = 4 courses • 6-hour Chinese course = 2 courses

To be comfirmed • A special course under German department at School of Foreign Studies • Only open to students from partner universities of the German department (Erlangen/Nuremberg, Giessen, Potsdam) • Only taught in German • Registration - Under SIE sheet

Life in UIBE - Accommodation • On-campus dormitory is very limited -> thousands of applications • No change is allowed before registration & orientation week • Change Accommodation (contact GEEC at the first time) • ONLY WHEN there is an available room after registration & orientation week • Reasonable excuse • Formal report • Signiture from GEEC's office • Switch Room (contact GEEC at the first time) • Reasonable excuse • Report from both students who agree to switch room • Signiture from GEEC's office • Withdraw (contact GEEC at the first time) • Reasonable excuse • Formal report • Signature from GEEC's office • A fine will be applied -> check with housing department

  21. Life in UIBE - Med. Examination • Medical Examination is ONLY required for students with X1 visa who will study in China for more than 6 months. • For details: Office 102, Visa Office, International Plaza B 86(0)10-6449-5563

Life in UIBE-Insurance According to the regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education, students of Non-Degree Programs must buy group insurance in mainland China as a necessary material to register. Cost: 800 RMBfor a whole year 400 RMB for half year. Cash Only. * Personal insurance cannot be used for registration and application for residence permit in China * Staff from insurance company will be at registration place bby of building B of International Education Building

  23. Life in UIBE - Law • Law • Pornography, Superstition, Terror, Violence or Hideousness -> NO!! • Drug Taking or Carry Dangerous Infections ->NO!! • Drunk drive (Car & Motorcycle) ->NO!! • Rape -> NO!! * A formal Law & Regulation Workshop will be delivered in Week 1-2.

Life in UIBE - Regulation • Regulation • Attendance • Cheating & Plagiarism • Vacation Leave and Travel outside Beijing • If travel outside China during your study at UIBE, make sure to apply for a re-entry visa at Visa Office 2 weeks in advance & the re-entry period should be long enough to cover your study at UIBE. • Your safety is our priority! • Please inform GEEC about your travel before your departure. • Be aware of weather, transportation or possible natural disaster at your destination before your travel. A formal Law & Regulation Workshop will be delivered in Week 1-2.
