Bring back the tympani and the concert chimes. Guard- 33 members!! Plus our VERY talented and award winning Feature Majorette Halley Hook! Auxilaries are already pushing 70 members!! That’s about 2/3 the size of last years band WITHOUT horns. Baritones- Confirmed MORE than last year!!! 20-J’s- We are attempting to march all of ours. Oh, that would be 7! Seniors- We have 29 leaving. The increase in the guard, percussion, and those in WHS joining for the first time, have already surpassed this. In other words, any 8th grader that joins will surpass last year’s size!!

  4. What’s New?!?! • NEW Stand Music- Continue to entertain our Woodstock fans with the best music possible!! • Size- This is a BIG growth year! Bigger doesn’t mean better but with hard work we WON’T take a step back! • New Student Leaders- There are some GREAT new student leaders coming on board this year!! • Staff- Bringing back some of the “Regulars” and then adding some new. • Return back to Jacksonville State University to compete in their “Contest of Champions!!”

  10. How was the 2008 Show Selected • ENTERTAINMENT- This show attempts to grab the audience’s attention like none other! • Sound big with music that is strategically arranged for our level. • Pick a show that we can visually entertain the crowd. Once again the music is only a portion of what will make this show good. • Pick a show that we will have fun performing and the crowd will enjoy watching and hearing! Sound effects will be an added element for this show (Keep this in mind) • Don’t attempt to do a show that has been performed countless times by other bands. Dare to be original!! Set the performance standard!!

  11. So…Are you ready to know what the new show is?

  12. Do you like eerie stories… Stories that tend to frighten you a bit… What if we brought back an exciting element of our “Incredible’s” season Victor Baldwin, and allowed him to tell such a story to the audience set to original music… And then we gave him the words of a poet who knew how to tell such a story…

  13. Edgar Allan Poe

  14. And the story…

  15. 2008 Show Selection’s Movement 0- Pre Show Warm Up!! A hauntingly beautiful pre-show introduction sets the stage for the mayhem to come!! Movement 1- The Old Man’s Eye Sit back, strap yourself in and hold on tight. You can feel the panic and sense of doom build throughout this fast-paced opener. Movement 2- The Murder A bewitching flute solo is followed by tension so thick you can cut it with a knife! The extended percussion break literally makes your heart beat faster and faster. The deed is done! Movement 3- The Beating Heart Beneath the Wooden Planks A sense of paranoia sets in as our protagonist sinks into madness. You will have your audience on the edge of their seats until the very end!!

  16. And you just thought we were… “Wicked”
