  3. And Assessment • Middle States • New Standards that are now in final draft form. • Standard 7 -- Institutional Assessment • New York State Department of Education • Amendment to Part 52 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education relating to assessment.

  4. Middle States • Standard 7 • written assessment plan and process • periodic assessment of institutional effectiveness that addresses the total range of educational offerings, services, and processes, including the planning, resource allocation, and institutional renewal process

  5. Middle States (cont’d) • Use of assessment results to improve and gain efficiencies in administrative services and processes, including activities specific to the institution’s mission • a written institutional (strategic) plan that reflects consideration of data from assessment.

  6. New York State • Requires us to have an ongoing, systematic process for assessing whether we are achieving our mission and goals and for promoting improvement and to have an assessment plan describing that process.

  7. Timeline • Middle States visit will be Spring 2005 • State requirements: • phase-in period between July 1, 2002 and an institution’s first full institutional accreditation review after July 1, 2003
