  1. C2 topic 5 revision Self assessment / peer assessment opportunity. Starter: Which is more concentrated 0.5M HCl or 0.75M HCl?

  2. Endo/exo reactions • Heat is taken in during a reaction and a temperature fall has taken place...which type of reaction has occurred? (1) • What is the temperature difference between -10oC and 3oC (1) • What are the differences between exothermic and endothermic reactions? (6*)

  3. Energy diagrams • Draw the energy diagram for an exothermic reaction. (3) • Describe the energy diagram below: (2)

  4. Activation energy • Write a word equation for the reaction between iron and copper sulphate to make iron sulfate (2) • What is a catalyst and how do they work? Add a diagram (4) • What is activation energy? (2)

  5. Rates of reaction • What are the 4 factors that can change the rate of reaction? (2) • Design a practical to investigate the effect of concentration on rate of reaction. Use 2M HCl and 0.5M HCl, Mg ribbon and a stopclock. (6*) • Which temperature will have a slower rate of reaction? 2oC or 40oC? (1)

  6. More rates of reaction • Catalysts are usually expensive and used in small amounts in industrial reactions... Why do we use honeycomb shaped coated metal instead of rectangular blocks of metals coated in catalyst? (4)

  7. A reaction is completed and then the same reaction is done again at a higher temperature. How will the results differ? Discuss the particles involved (4) • How can you tell that a reaction has produced a gas?(1)

  8. Grades • Max mark 37 A* = 33 A = 30 B = 26 C = 23 D = 19 U = <19
