  3. ¿Qué es un verbo de ‘oy’ o ‘go’? • these verbs are irregular ONLY in the yo form • some people refer to them as irregular ‘yo’ verbs or as –oyor –go verbs • they’re called this because the yo form takes an –oyor –go ending instead of just an -o • However, they still use “regular” verb endings IN ALL THE OTHER FORMS

  5. dar-to give La maestra da tarea a los alumnos. The teacher gives homework to the students.

  6. ver-to see *NOT OYGO Nosotros vemos a las personas en la fiesta.

  7. Some irregular verbs combine multiple rules: For example:stem-changer + “go” verb tener tengo tenemos tienes tenéis tiene tienen Ellos tienen un regalo para Miguel. They have a present for Miguel.

  8. venir-to come(eie stem-changer also) Mis amigos vienen a mi fiesta. My friends come to my party

  9. decir-to say/to tell(ei stem-changer also) Siempre digo la verdad. I always tell the truth.

  10. poner-to put/to place(also used in the fixed expression: poner la mesa—to set the table) Ella pone la ropa en el armario. She puts the clothing in the closet.

  11. hacer-to do/to make Yo hago mi cama todos los días.I make my bed every day.

  12. salir-to go out/to leave(when you leave from a place, you “salir de”)(when you leave for a place, you “salir para”) Nosotros salimos de la escuela a las tres y media. We leave from school at 3:30.

  13. traer-to bring *** Note that the yo form adds an ‘i’ *** Yo traigo mi libro a la clase de español. I bring my book to Spanish class.
