  1. “What Are you Listening to?” A deeper look into the poetry of song. Lyrics: We are never getting back together that’s what makes you beautiful BY: Allison Clary

  2. We Are Never Getting Back Together By: Taylor Swift I remember when we broke up the first time Saying this is it, I've had enough, 'cause like We haven't seen each other in a month When you, said you, needed space, what? Then you come around again and say Baby, I miss you and I swear I'm gonna change Trust me, remember how that lasted for a day I say, I hate you, we break up, you call me, I love you Oooh we called it off again last night But Oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you We are never ever ever getting back together We are never ever ever getting back together You go talk to your friends talk To my friends talk to me But we are never ever everever getting back together Like ever... I'm really gonna miss you picking fights And me, falling for a screaming that I'm right And you, will hide away and find your piece of mind with some indie record that's much cooler than mine Oooh you called me up again tonight But Oooh, this time I'm telling you, I'm telling you We are never ever ever getting back together We are never ever ever getting back together You go talk to your friends talk To my friends talk to me But we are never ever everever getting back together I used to think, that we, were forever ever ever And I used to say never say never Huh, he calls me up and he's like, I still love you And i'm like, i'm just, I mean this is exhausting, you know We are never getting back together, like ever We are never ever ever getting back together We are never ever ever getting back together You go talk to your friends talk To my friends talk to me But we are never ever everever getting back together We, oooh, oooh, not back together, we Oh, getting back together You go talk to your friends talk And my friends talk to me But we are never ever everever getting back together

  3. Analyzing the Song This song is literal because she is telling you the story of their relationship. No, there is not a rhyming pattern in this song because has rhyming words I at the end of some lines but it’s not constant. This song is about a girl and her boyfriend breaking up over and over again then getting back together after a while. But by the end they are over for good. They also keep talking about it with her friends and then he will talk to his and they will end up come back to each other even though they aren’t a perfect match. The title is in the song quite a bit especially in the chorus. The title represents a couple breaking up and so does the song. The message or theme that Taylor is trying to convey is love lost. The first literary device found was repetition because throughout the whole song she repeats the lyrics, “We are never getting back together,” she also repeats, “You go talk to your friends talk to my friends talk to me.” The next poetic device used in the song is a simile which the lyrics were “We are never getting back together, like ever.” This poem puts me in the mood that is kind of sad but happy she did what she need to. There is a mixture of lines and stanzas, but they are in stanzas so I think it is kind of like a poem.

  4. That’s What Makes You Beautiful By: One Direction You're insecure Don't know what for You're turning heads when you walk through the door Don't need make up To cover up Being the way that you are is enough Everyone else in the room can see it Everyone else but you [Chorus] Baby you light up my world like nobody else The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell You don't know Oh Oh You don't know you're beautiful If only you saw what I can see You'll understand why I want you so desperately Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe You don't know Oh oh You don't know you're beautiful Oh oh That what makes you beautiful So c-come on You got it wrong To prove I'm right I put it in a song I don't know why You're being shy And turn away when I look into your eyes Everyone else in the room can see it Everyone else but you [Chorus] Baby you light up my world like nobody else The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell You don't know Oh oh You don't know you're beautiful If only you saw what I can see You'll understand why I want you so desperately Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe You don't know Oh oh You don't know you're beautiful Oh oh That's what makes you beautiful [Bridge] Nana NanaNanaNana Nana NanaNanaNana Nana NanaNanaNana Baby you light up my world like nobody else The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell You don't know Oh Oh You don't know you're beautiful [Chorus] Baby you light up my world like nobody else The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell You don't know Oh oh You don't know you're beautiful If only you saw what I can see You'll understand why I want you so desperately Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe You don't know Oh Oh You don't know you're beautiful Oh oh You don't know you're beautiful Oh oh That's what makes you beautiful

  5. Analyzing the Song This song is literal because it is tell a story. There is not a rhyming pattern in this song it is just sentences with no rhyming words. The song is about this boy who likes this girl and is trying to tell her how beautiful he thinks she is. He is telling her this to show that she thinks she is special. He thinks that she doesn’t think that she is beautiful or that she knows it. The title of this song is that’s “What Makes You Beautiful” and it is repeated throughout the whole song. Because throughout the whole song the boys singing it are telling this one girl for one of them that he thinks she is beautiful/ the world. The message or theme that the song conveys if you love some one don’t let them go keep trying. The first poetic device is repetition which the lyrics that repeat a lot are “That’s what makes you beautiful.” The next poetic device is mood the mood of this story is love and romance it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. The song also has a good beat and rhythm throughout it. This song is mad e from lines or complete sentences if I could rewrite it I would write it like this. Baby you light up my world like nobody else the way that you flip your hair gets me OVERWHLEMED But when you smile at the ground it aint hard to tell you don’t know oh oh you don’t know your beautiful

  6. Comparing and Contrasting the Two Songs There are many similarities and differences between the two songs which are “We are never getting back together” and “That’s what makes you beautiful.” These two songs have two completely different themes “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” theme is if you love some one don’t let them go keep trying. The other song which is “We Are Never Getting Back Together” has the theme love lost. No, neither of the songs have similar topic “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” is explaining that one of the boys singing the song thinks that this girl is beautiful but he thinks that she doesn’t know it about herself. The song “We Are Never Getting Back Together” has the topic that Taylor and this guy have broken up plenty of times before, but always come back to each other some how and this time Taylor is ending it for good. Yes, the rhyme patterns in both the songs are similar, because both of the songs don’t have a rhyme pattern. Some of the lines in the songs rhyme with others, but the pattern is not constant. A poetic device that both songs contain is repetition, I know this because they repeat the chorus of the song several times. Both of these songs are literal because they are telling a story within the music.
