  1. Email Setup Center Hotmail IMAP and SMTP settings

  2. Introduction • The Hotmail mail service supports the IMAP and SMTP server settings. • If you are using an email client to access your Hotmail account, • the client should be configured with the IMAP and SMTP server settings of the Hotmail IMAP.

  3. Change Account Window • In the Change Account window, fill the required details. • Account Type: IMAP • Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.comOutgoing mail server: smtp-mail.outlook.com

  4. Server Connections • Go to the Advanced tab, enter the information given below, and select the OK button. • IMAP mail server port: 993 • Encrypted connection: SSL/TLS • SMTP mail server port: 587 • Encrypted connection: STARTTLS/TLS

  5. On Thunderbird • Launch the Thunderbird email client window and go to the Menu. • Select the EditTools menu and click the Account Settings option. • On the Account settings window, select your Hotmail account. • On the left panel, just below your account name, the Server Settings menu will be present, click on that.

  6. Enter Incoming Server • Enter the Incoming server (IMAP) details, as mentioned above. • Now, click Outgoing Server, which is at the bottom of the left panel. • Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) settings on the right panel with the server information as given above under the Outlook client for configuring the hotmail IMAP.
