  1. <3 Your Sneakers Presented by April Matthews, Academic Computing Tanya Rivers, Math Coordinator

  2. What caused those holes in your soles?

  3. DVSM 102 Overrides Must be efficient and consistent Require quick response time Involve multiple offices

  4. In The Beginning A paper form seemed to be the best solution. But, we had issues: • Where do I get the form? What if I’m at an extended campus? • How do I get it to where it needs to be…should I snail mail it? • Where does it go when I am done with it? • What happens if the form gets misplaced? Should I make a copy just in case? • What happens to it when we are finished with it? Should we keep them for always and forever?

  5. Sounds like a job for:FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLETWorkflow Workflow is used to move paper from office to office all the while getting approvals from and sending copies to key people.

  6. How easy is it to request a workflow?OMG: So Easy! • Know the issue you are trying to fix and who is involved in the process • Get a champion –someone to help you get approval through all the steps • Request a workflow

  7. Workflow Steps • Develop a mock form. • Involve the key players: • Know who needs the form • Know where the form needs to go • Know who has to approve the form • Get buy-in from the key players • Assist with the workflow process • Test • Implement

  8. Workflows Need Champions Are you the champion? • The person who uses the form or receives the form • Persuades the campus to use the workflow • The champion for the DVSM form is Tanya Rivers. • Math faculty use the form • Responsible for getting the form completed • Responsible for following the form through all channels Not Tanya Rivers 

  9. The Paper Form What could possibly go wrong with a paper form? Paper form can get lost Writing can be illegible W00# can be incorrect Score can be out of acceptable range Has to be emailed or walked from place to place (hence the holes in Tanya’s soles) Form can be hard to find An incomplete paper form can be submitted

  10. The Web Form What’s so great about a web form? Available 24/7 on the web for all faculty—anywhere! Cannot get lost: once it’s started, it’s there somewhere W00# entry populates First name, Last name and ME username Mastery level must be between 70-100 Always legible Automatically moves through the system Sends an email to faculty and math coordinator at the end of the process.

  11. How’d it go for the DVSM102 form? • Overall: GREAT!! • A few minor bugs appeared. • Comments section • Removal of unnecessary step None of the bugs were this big 

  12. Thanks for your attention! YOU too can be a champion!
