Astin’s (1985) IEO Model: Implications for MSU’s Master’s Program • Regarding Graduate Education, Inputs are students’ pre-program impressions, values, and knowledge about higher education and student affairs. Your professional statement submitted with your program application is a small window to understand your predispositions about higher education and student affairs. Your responses to the reflection questions could be viewed as additional input factors. • Environment is made up of academic classes, interactions with peers and faculty in the program, learning in your professional position, learning through your practicum and GA position. • The outcomes from the program should include your performance on all three portfolio questions, and movement into position(s) of your choice.
