  1. ME1/1 OTMB Production Readiness Review: Schedule and Budget Darien Wood Northeastern University For the ME1/1 Electronics Project

  2. Categories • On-chamber electronics • DCFEBs (504 + spares) • LVDB (72+) • LVMB (72+) • ALCT mezz (72+) • Peripheral crate electronics • OTMB mezz (72+) • OTMB base boards (72+) • ODMB (72+) • Infrastructure • New LV supplies, junction boxes, cables supply to JB • Patch panels • Peripheral crate modification • Optical cables • Signal cables (pads to DCFEB – 40% new)

  3. Groups • In addition, integration testing involved many groups: OSU, UCSB, TAMU, NEU, Rice, JINR and NCPHEP

  4. Schedule Milestones • TC1 schedule (17-May-2013) • ME1/1 Milestones

  5. Where we are today • DCFEB: • Production underway • 10 preproduction boards in hand • 2 production boards in hand • Another 92 production boards expected in ~1 week • OTMB mezzanine • R&D prototype (2010-11) – used for design choices and radiation testing • Preproduction (2012) – nearly final design, used with DCFEBs in B904 • Firmware developed to implement current trigger algorithm with optical iput from 7 DCFEBs • 8 boards in hand • ODMB • First prototype (2012) • Only designed for optical TTC (anticipating FF_EMU ASIC, which was abandoned after the prototype design) • Limited capability for interfacing with DCFEB, but able to read out optical data path • Second prototype (April 2013) • Fully functional design • Boards at UCSB, OSU, Rice and CERN

  6. Schedule Roll-up • OTMB and ODMB production overlap installation of on-chamber electronics and installation of chambers

  7. OTMB mezz: production and testing • Have a total of 8 pre-production Mezz already in hand • 8 tested production boards to CERN: • 18 July 2013 • All boards tested: • 17 Oct 2013

  8. ME1/1 Electronics Project M&S summary *originally in ME4/2 budget

  9. OTMB mezzanine cost details 72 boards + 15 spares = 87 boards Single costs (setup, testing, shipping): $25.5 k Total production cost estimate: $301k Already procured: SNAP-12 receivers

  10. Backup Slides

  11. Draft Schedule for OTMB base board • To be done by Texas A & M • First pass at schedule

  12. TMB base board costs Estimated total cost (72+18 boards): $161k Estimated contingency: $17k
