  1. Number Property Matching Game Also used as Interactive Math Journal 7th Grade CCSS 7.NS.1, 7.NS.2

  2. -5 + 8 = 8 + (-5) Commutative Property of Addition -5 x 3 = 3 x (-5) Commutative Property of Multiplication (7 + 4) + 2=7 + (4 +2) Associative Property of Addition

  3. Associative Property of Multiplication 2 x (3 x 4) = (2 x 3) x 4 Multiplication Property of 1/ Identity Property 8 x 1 = 8 Addition Property of Zero 4 + 0 = 4

  4. 5 + (-5) = 0 Additive Inverse Property 6 x 0 = 0 Multiplication Property of Zero 4 + 5 + (-4) = 4+ (-4) + 5= 0 + 5= 5 Fill in 3 properties used to solve:

  5. Instructions: All examples are set up across from their number property. Keep one set intact as answer key. Answer to final slide: Step 1: Commutative Property of Addition Step 2: Additive Inverse Property Step 3: Addition Property of Zero Additional Instructions: Print slides 2-4 for the number of students you have. If you are using without the journal, laminate the sheets at this time. Use paper cutter to cut properties and their examples. Create a complete set of properties and their answers for each student. Make sure to shuffle from their original order. If you are not making the journal, the students can now use the cards to match. If you are making a journal entry, instruct students on the order you’d like the properties glued down. Next, have students determine which example goes with each property. I made sure students knew not to glue until I had checked their answers!
