  2. A Professional Association for UTeach Goal was to establish a permanent, sustainable infrastructure to support UTeach programs beyond the initial grant implementation period and to engage the national UTeach community in addressing the ongoing need for improved STEM teaching and learning.

  3. A Professional Association for UTeach 2-Year Pilot to Develop a UTeach Professional Association • Hire an Association Coordinator • MOU for Cohort 1 programs • Establish an advisory group • Develop a charter and governance structure • Develop membership structure (fees, benefits, etc.) • Develop Association support resources • Provide ongoing UTeach program support and data reporting • Develop graduate-tracking tools, resources, and processes • Establish the National UTeach Alumni Network

  6. UTeach STEM Educators Association (USEA) Mission Statement Developing STEM literacy for all students through innovation and excellence in university-based teacher education.

USEAGoals • Create a community of UTeach programs and stakeholders through networks, opportunities, and resources that support them to thrive in their universities, schools, and communities. • Continuously improve the UTeach curriculum and model through the application of current research-based, cutting-edge best practices. • Advocate for effective university-based STEM teacher preparation and the importance of STEM education. • Establish a national research agenda for STEM instruction and assessment. • Provide ongoing research-based professional development to university faculty and staff as well as alumni and in-service STEM teachers to ensure the highest-quality STEM teachers for our nation’s students.

USEAMembership Structure Program Membership: Institutions of higher education that have established UTeach programs (membership dues: $3,000/year) Alumni Membership: Individuals who have completed UTeach programs (membership dues: complimentary) Affiliate Membership: Institutions or organizations that are interested in the mission of the association, including but not limited to: • Institutions of higher education that do not have UTeach programs • K-12 schools and school districts, education organizations, and other not-for-profit entities • For-profit corporations, commercial companies, centers, etc. (membership dues: to be determined) Membership Year: September 1 - August 31

USEAMembership Services USEA members will continue to receive UTeach Institute services such as: • UTeach workshops, conferences, and retreats • UTeach curriculum updates and instructional resources • Program data and comparison reports across UTeach programs • Networking opportunities with other UTeach faculty and staff to share best practices and continue to improve the UTeach model and curriculum

USEAMembership Services USEA members will receive exclusive new services such as: • The UTeach Alumni Management System and graduate tracking assistance • Grant funding opportunities brought to the national network • Alumni support through the National UTeach Alumni Network • Research opportunities by sharing data across UTeach partner programs • STEM education advocacy
