  1. Cosmic ray data T. Tsuboyama (KEK)

  2. Cosmic ray data • On 22 Dec. 2008 Beam stopped. • On 28 Dec. Belle E-hut shutdown • Only 72 hours data were taken. • Jan 6-end March: Belle maintenance. (Forward End cap is opened.) • Jan-March 2009 • SVD cosmic ray data will be taken as long time as possible.

  3. DSSD production in HPK T. Tsuboyama (KEK)

  4. News • 25 Dec. 2008, I met with HPK engineers Yamamura, Sato and Inutsuka who has worked for the DSSD production for SVD1 and SVD2. • In fact they met Prof. Aihara (Tokyo) in advance and Aihara somehow convinced HPK that DSSD production is necessary for users and for HPK. • I will start discussion with them.

  5. Questions • They discarded the semiconductor machines for double sided process. They should buy several machines and modify them for double sided process. • Once they decide, there are no big technical problems. • Thomas and Markus told me that we should confirm • if they could use 300 mm thick, 6” diameter wafers. • what is the production capability (speed)

  6. Number of sensors (Markus) • Assuming 6” wafers can be used. • 2x12+ 3x12 + 4*24 + 5*24 = 276 • 300kyen * 276 =82800 kyen

  7. Number of sensors (LOI) • Assuming 4” wafers are used. • 3x12+ 5*12 + 6*24 + 8*24 = 432 • 300kyen * 432 =129600 kyen • The total cost will be around ~ 1 MUSD. • (independent of wafer size) 6 5 5 3 2 1

  8. SVD construction schedule 7 Jan 2008 T. Tsuboyama (KEK)

  9. SVD production • Thomas’s chart • It is not possible to procure all sensors in 1 year. • I guess it takes 3 years to complete all sensors. • Final ladder production will be done in 2013.

  10. SVD production • Thomas’s chart (modified) • 3 years for sensor production with some spares. • Final ladder production will be done in 2013. • 0.5-1 year system test before installation. • SVD and DEPFET installation should be done after we understand background conditions, e.g., 0.5 years. system test
