  3. Major Landforms Plains- Low, flat land. Rocky Mountains- A  mountain range that runs through the  northern part of New Mexico. Plateau- Mountains with flat tops.

  5. ClimateTucson’s Five Seasons • SPRING: Late February - April. Days are usually warm and sunny with cool nights (however, the occasional cold snap can still come through). • DRY SUMMER: May - June. Days are usually hot, and dry, but the nights are still cool. • MONSOON SUMMER: June - September. Days often begin clear and very warm, but as the heat of the day builds, huge clouds build and tower above cooling the temperatures somewhat and often dumping huge quantities of rain in a very short time. • FALL: October - November. Days are still hot at the beginning of the season, but nights become cool again as the humidity leaves the area . Toward the end of the season, as temperatures cool off, animals that were more nocturnal during the summer now begin to become more diurnal and visible. • WINTER: December - Early February. Days are usually clear, except when fronts move through bringing clouds and rain (or rarely snow), but daytime temperatures plummet to the 60s and nighttime temperatures average in the upper 30 and lower 40s.

  7. Animal Life • Reptiles of Tucson include tortoises/turtles, lizards, and snakes. Reptiles have scales and amniotic. • Our birds add song to Tucson's desert areas. Many species of birds live year-round or migrate into our area. • Desert mammals tend to be nocturnal or crepuscular thus are not as often seen as many of the others species spotlit here. Most of our mammals are rodents and bats, but we also have large mammals such as deer, javelina, coyotes, and mountain lions. Some of these species live right in the city.
