NSCB Releases Philippine National Health Accounts The NSCB released last 3 August 2010 the preliminary estimates of the Philippine National Health Account (PNHA) for 2005 to 2007. The PNHA presents information on how much is spent on health care goods and services and who is paying for these goods and services. This information is useful in analyzing the appropriateness of the levels, composition, and structure of health expenditures, especially those of the government.

  33. Announcements 1. NSCB Releases Philippine National Health Accounts con’t…. Among the highlights: • The country’s total health expenditure showed improvements from 2005 to 2007, but at decelerating growth rates both at current and constant prices. At current prices, the total outlay for health went up from PHP198.4 billion in 2005 to PHP234.3 billion in 2007, registering a growth rate of 9.1 percent in 2006 and 8.3 percent in 2007. • When considered on a per capita basis, these growth rates translate to miniscule increases in per capita health spending of PHP14 in 2006 and PHP11 in 2007. NSCB releases the 2009 GRDP The NSCB released the 2009 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on August 5, 2010 through simultaneous Press Conferences in 9 out of the 17 regions of the country, where it has regional presence. The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) measures the goods and services produced in each of the geopolitical regions of the country. It provides an analysis of the regional distribution of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), the industries and factors that contribute to the regional economies, and the pace at which these economies are moving.

  35. Announcements 2. NSCB releases the 2009 GRDP con’t… Out of the 17 regions, 13 regions posted positive growths while 4 regions recorded reversals. Bicol’s economy posted the highest growth rate at 8.2 percent while CALABARZON recorded the lowest, at negative 1.6 percent. Copies of the 2007-2009 GRDP are available at the National Statistical Information Center (NSIC) located at the Ground Floor, Midland Buendia Building, 403 Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City. Approved FDI declines in Q2 2010 after posting two consecutive quarters of increase • Total foreign direct investments (FDI) approved by the Board of Investments (BOI), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) in the second quarter of 2010 declined by 31.0 percent after posting two consecutive quarters of increase. Total FDI amounted to PhP 13.8 billion from PhP 19.9 billion registered in the same period last year.
