January 2010 – first stage of trial – circulation of list of units as starting point: QCF units already identified as being delivered within OLASS excluding those out of scope for QCF (key skills, Skills for Life) QCF units or equivalences supported by awarding organisations and providers (credit transfer) Units from those qualifications approved for public funding by the Skills Funding Agency The OLASS Unit Funding Trials

Providers asked to… Start delivering the units from the trial list – vocational and employability Consider removing units and qualifications replaced by QCF Engage with awarding organisations to find out what is new and what is in the ‘pipeline’ for QCF Access the LSIS QCF readiness support programme

    6. Next Steps Trials will be extended as more units go on the QCF – OLASS website to be updated. Providers to feed back on trials to inform further development - flag up anything from the QCF lists for inclusion Identification of issues causing difficulty e.g. time lags with LAD. August 2010 – vocational provision to be built from QCF units. Use of NQF as interim measure.

Funding Approval Technical funding parameters to be applied to each programme including OLASS (see slide 1) Sector organisations will advise the Skills Funding Agency on what should be publicly funded based on these Wide range of entry points and progression routes to support learners Exceptions to be raised by sector bodies via the Agency Sectors Team Strategic Approvals Panel – formal process of approval for Train to Gain, Adult Learner Responsive, Programmes for the Unemployed, OLASS.

    8. Discussion Achievable aims/units – are these appropriate for the establishment/population/length of stay?
