  1. FATHER, SON, AND HOLY GHOST I and my Father are one (Jn 10:30).

  2. The Father • God the Father – refers to God Himself (Gal 1:1-4) • God is the Father of all creation ( Heb. 12:9) • Only one Father (Mal. 2:10) • Jesus is the Father incarnate (Is 9:6) • Jesus came in his Father’s name (Jn 5:43) • Jesus fulfilled prophecy (Ps 22:22, Heb 2:12)

  3. The Son • Son of God refers to God as manifested in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ (Matt.1:21) • Father refers to deity alone • Son of God refers to deity as incarnated in humanity. • We can say the Son of God died. • We cannot say the Father died. • Humanity is the Son. Deity is the Father. • Jesus is the name of deity and humanity.

  4. The Holy Ghost • Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are interchangeable. • These terms are taken from the Greek word pneuma. They mean the same thing. • “Spirit of God” Gen 1:2, Jn 3:5 • The Holy Ghost is God (Lev 11:44 & Jn 4:24) • Therefore, Holy Ghost is another title for God. • Jesus is the name of God’s Spirit (Holy Ghost); Jn 14:26.

  5. The Father of Christ • The Father is the one who causes conception. • The Holy Ghost is the Father of Jesus (Matt 1:8,20) • The Holy Ghost is our Father (Rom 8:15-16) • The Holy Ghost is the Comforter (Parentless) or Parent • Who raised Jesus from the dead (Father & Spirit) Acts 2:24, Eph 1:17-20 • Who quickens the dead (Father & Spirit) Rom 4:17, I Tim 6:13) • Therefore the Holy Ghost is the Father

  6. Jesus as Deity • The Spirit in the Son is the Father • The Spirit in the Son is the Holy Ghost • Phil 1:19, Gal 4:6, II Cor 3:17 • Correlations I Peter 1:10-11 to II Peter 1:21; Rom 8:9-11 to Jn 2:19-21; Jn 14:16 to Jn 14:18; Eph 5:26 to I Peter 1:2; Rom 8:26 to Heb 7:25

  7. Matthew 28:19 • Since these titles or roles are one person • Therefore, only one name is needed. • The name of Jesus • Presbyterian professor James Buswell states the name is singular and not names. • Lutheran professor Otto Heick, “At first baptism was administered in the name of Jesus…. • Encyclopedias and church historians agree, the original baptismal formula was in the name Jesus.
