Euthanasia. from the Greek  εὐθανασία meaning "good death": εὖ ,  eu  (well or good) + θάνατος ,  thanatos (death ). Voluntary euthanasia- at request of the patient Non-voluntary euthanasia- patient not competent Involuntary euthanasia- murder.

  3. Active Euthanasia-giving something that directly and intentionally results in death • Passive Euthanasia-withholding treatment knowing it will result in premature death • Physician Assisted suicide- physician provided mean or information about suicide

  4. Double Effect • The action must be good in itself • The agent must intend only the good effect and not the evil effect • The good effect must not be achieved through the evil effect • There is sufficient reason to permit the evil effect
