  4. ELSAforChildren Highlighted Questions • How are Children’s Rights ensured in European countries? • How does legislation protect children against sexual violence? • What are the problems of reporting sexual abuse?

  5. ELSAforChildren Why? The international community needs more information on Children’s Rights and the protection of children against sexual violence. EfCaims at high quality academic results through legal comparison and to contribute to the legal knowledge on Children’s Rights internationally.

  6. ELSAforChildren When? • Launch of the project:Palermo, October 2011 • Submission of reports: October 2012 • Submission of the Final Report: December 2012 • International Conference: Helsinki, Spring 2013

ELSAforChildren The Research • investigatewhat research is already available and what research is underway in the National States in preparation for the ratification of the Lanzarote Convention • research on what kind of measures of protection to child victims and perpetrators are and should be in place and how the legislation should be or has been amended • study what monitoring and complaints mechanisms are or will be in place

  9. ELSAforChildren The Academic Framework • Questionnaire • Created by the Academic Coordinators • 5 chapters • Up to 135 questions

  10. ELSAforChildren The Outcome • Final Report will: • Contain analysis on the national laws • Allow comparison of national laws • Publication in the campaign website • International Conference
