  2. What is the IndianaMap? IGIC's cornerstoneinitiative is theIndianaMap The IndianaMapinitiative is a portfolioof projects Integration of the best available (authoritative) framework data layers, provided by local (authoritative sources) together with state and federal data Access provided through a web portal with tiered access for decision-makers and the public to view, download, and web-serve (trusted) geospatial information from a (trusted source)‏

  3. Some Terms/Definitions Authoritative Source – An agency which provides authoritative data and assures the veracity of the data. Authoritative Data – Officially recognized data provided by an authoritative source. Data Stewards – An organization within an authoritative source charged with the collection and maintenance of authoritative data. Trusted Source and Trusted Data– A service provider or organization that publishes data from a number of authoritative sources. These publications are often compilations and subsets of the data from more than one authoritative source. It is “trusted” because there is an “official process” for compiling the data from authoritative sources and the accuracy, currency, and limitations of the data are known and documented.

  4. History of the IndianaMap Web portal started at the Indiana Geological Survey approximately 9 years ago with the INDOT I-69 Corridor project IGS/INDOT expanded portal coverage from South-West Indiana to the entire state creating the “GIS Atlas for Indiana” IGIC developed and promoted GIS framework data standards. The IGIC/C-TASC 2005 Statewide Orthophotography project is a direct result of these efforts Indiana Code 4-23-7.3 (passed in 2007) 2008 IGIC/IGS partnership re-brands the GIS Atlas for Indiana as the IndianaMap ( www.indianamap.org )‏ Parcels & Ownership Streets & Addresses PLSS Water Boundaries Elevation Orthophotography Geodetic Control Framework Data Layers
