  2. Commands are a part of our everyday life. Commands are everywhere! Go! Raise your hand! Read! Think!

  3. Commands subject pronoun In English the is dropped (deleted) from a statement to form the imperative. The command form of a verb is also known as the “imperative”. Estielle It is formed the same way in French. presentations

  4. For one (1) person, the statementchanges to a command like this in English: ! You L l . isten ! pplaud You A a . Estielle presentations ! w You ait W .

  5. For one (1) person, the statementchanges to a command like this in French: Tu é s É ! . coute ! pplaudis Tu A a . Estielle presentations A a Tu ttends ! .

  6. Did you notice? The command form for “tu” with –er verbs is the same as the regular il/elle/on form of the verb. That is, the final “s” of the “tu” form is dropped. Tu é coute ! É . Estielle s presentations This only happens with the “tu” commands of “-er” verbs.

  12. In English, when you include yourself in the suggestion, the subject pronoun changes from “we” in the statement to “Let’s” in the command form. listen Let’s We ! . ! We applaud Let’s . Let’s wait We ! . Note: “Let’s” is a contraction of “let + us” meaning “Why don’t we?

  13. But in French, when you want to include yourself in the suggestion, you still just discard the subject pronoun. Examples: Estielle Nous coutons ! é É . presentations Nous pplaudissons a A ! . Nous A ttendons a ! .

  15. To make a command negative, just sandwich the verb with “ne” (n’) and “pas” as usual. Examples: Ne regardez pas! Estielle presentations N’attendons pas! Ne parle pas! N’écrivez pas!

Ne mangeons pas ici! 4. N’attendez pas devant la porte. 4. Don’t wait in front of the door! 5. N’arrivez pas en retard! 5. Don’t arrive late!
