  2. RIGHT NOW DO THESE THINGS: ARE YOU READY…….. Take out a pen I SURE HOPE YOU ARE……..

  3. 1. ON THE FIRST PAGE -Title this Chemistry -Write your name and your period -Switch notebooks with your lab partner. Then write your name, home phone num. cell phone number, email address, aim name, home address, and their class schedule. -Basically everything you might need in order to contact them. -Also, in the upper right hand corner, write down your lab station number.   6. 4. Lab Safety Contract     Staple the Lab Safety Rules Into Your Notebook. Onto Page 3 3 Safety Rules Safety Rules Folded in Half

  8. Safety Map 4 WINDOWS Door 5. Lab Safety Map     Draw a map of the room and identify the location of all lab safety equipment. Onto Page 4 Door • 2 fire extinguishers • Safety Shower • Gas shut off • Fire blanket • Eye wash station • Goggle cabinet • Fume hood • Exhaust Fan • Telephone • 2 Exits Teacher TEACHER DESK

  9. 6. Safety Equipment     On the left side of page 4, list all of the safety equipment you just identified on the map, and explain its function. Class Notes Open to page 5 of your Notebook • The following slides contain important information. • Write down this information in your lab notebook. • Take notes on the left pages (class notes section). • Put examples on the right pages (pre-lab section). • If the left page contains notes, and nothing is written on the right page, draw an “X” through the right page. 5

  12. 6 Data/Calculations: How to Write? Class Notes -All entries into lab notebook must be made in ink, NEATLY (BLUEor BLACK ink ONLY!). NO PENCILS (EVER). -Use a ruler to draw any tables/charts. -If a mistake is madde, made, cross it out neatly with a single line DO NOT USE WHITE-OUT …..continued on next slide

  13. 6 Data/Calculations: How to Write Class Notes -You must bring your prepared notebook to the laboratory or you will receive a zero on the prelab section (worth 10 pts). -No loose paper inside lab notebook.

During/After the Lab Class Notes During/After the Lab 7 • Fill in observation section. • Collect and record data in table. • If time permits, start calculations. • Consider the focus of lab questions. • If required, a formal typed up lab report that contains, in addition to what you wrote in your lab notebook, a typed conclusion (more info on typed lab reports to follow).
