  1. The Most Promising Application Idea The Most Promising EGNOS Application Idea • WHAT ? • acoustic binaural + GNSS = guidance people among the pre-defined track • FOR WHOM? • blind, partially sighted people, people working in environments with low visibility • HOW ? • spatial paths could be represented as a sequence of acoustic cues

  2. Technical description The sequence of the bell rings allows any person to build a mental map of the path. Although the sound is the same it is perceived in a different way depending on the distance and orientation

  3. User Direction N E W S User Direction N E W S Technical description • A spatial path can be represented as a sequence of acoustic cues E20 D15 F25 C05 B00 Absolute positioning The track can be considered as a route compound by a discrete set of geo-referenced waypoints. GNSSis used to calculate user position. User Position A00 10 20 30 40 F25 E20 D15 C05 Considering position and orientation of the user the next track points are converted into binaural acoustic cues allowing the user to perceive the position and shape of the track. 7. Current status 3DSOUND concept was developed by a newly founded start-up company. Proof of Concept of the system was partly funded from EU program [ARGUS] Test APP

  8. Current status VIDEO

  9. Requirements / next steps Financing is necessary to continue the development of the technologies: 3SOUND App and later on EGNOS 3SOUND System Thanks to the development and financing support the preliminary product could be introduced to the market within 6 months Source: branwithin

  12. Technicaldescription Neither research, patents nor products have solved the problem of giving a non- visual track perception. Visual impaired people require guidance support in outdoor activities. Emergency&Rescue teams require guidance assistance in novisibility conditions

  13. Technicaldescription Track perception would allow blind people to imagine the geometry of he path and walk along it autonomously. The sequence of the bell rings allows any person to build a mental map of the path. Binauralsoundscreate the illusion that sounds produced by a stereo headphone emanate from specific directions and distances.

  14. 3SOUND NAVIGATION provides an innovativeguidance supportsystem for visual impaired people or in low visibility conditions, based on the provision of a track line perceptiontrough the use of GNSSandbinauralsoundtechnologies.

  15. Technicaldescription B. Track on Map Processing C. Track Server • Track • Recording Track generation GPX data (Tracks and Waypoints) can be obtained through different options User Reference Frame Track recreation Absolute Reference Frame GPX data recorded and activated Guidance instructions are provided based on user position and orientation obtained through GNSS and electronic compass GPX file is loaded in the user terminal and activated for acoustic track guidance
