Space Weather Center of Excellence Air Force Research Laboratory • Fe XIV emission regions display the “Rush to the Poles” (“Rush”) • Solar maximum occurs when the Rush reaches ~ 76° latitude • If it exists, the Rush for Cycle 24 is intermittent and slow (it is very weak in the South) • If it persists, it will reach 76° at 2013.3 (and solar maximum may occur) • If the “Rush” fails to reach the poles, Cycle 23 flux may not be cleared from polar regions • It is uncertain what effect this would have on the dynamo Number of Coronal Fe XIV Emission Regions
