  4. Access: Where Do I Start? • Brooklyn Campus Library Homepage(http://www.brooklyn.liu.edu/library)Global College • We have customized the library’s website to provide a dedicated access point to the library’s resources and services.

Welcome Aboard! • The Brooklyn Campus Library homepage provides the access point you need to utilize the library’s resources and services. • As part of the Long Island University Global College family, we are with you every step of the way in your journey to explore the world and pursue your academic goals.

  6. Online Library Catalog (LIUCAT) • Want to know if the library owns a particular book, video, or journal? Search the Online Catalog

  7. Online Databases • The Long Island University Library System subscribes to over 350 online databases. • Many carry full-text journal articles • Almost all databases are available remotely. • The good news: The databases are available 24/7. • The bad news: 350 is a lot! Which one? • Fear NOT: Start with the Subject List

Library Barcode • To access online databases remotely, a valid library barcode is needed. • The Brooklyn Campus Library provides each Global College faculty and student a library barcode, renewable every year. • The barcode is also needed for other Library Services, such as the InterLibrary Loan Service.

  11. Full-text Articles: Serials Solutions • Find out whether the library carries a journal title in print or electronically. • Find out whether a full-text version of the article is available.

  12. How about Books? • We have books, too! • You may access over 35,000 electronic books via: • ebrary • Credo • Gale Virtual Reference Library • They are available to you 24/7.

  13. ebrary • ebrary carries over 35,000 electronic books covering a wide range of subject areas. • ebrary reader needs to be downloaded before you can view a title.

  14. Virtual Reference Chat • Want to chat with a library faculty at the Reference Desk? Sure! • Operating Hours: • Regular Semester (6 – 9 pm Monday - Thursday) • Summer Session (5 - 7 pm Monday – Thursday) • E-mail us atlibref@brooklyn.liu.edu

  15. Electronic Reserves (ERes) • The library provides the ERes system to host course reserve materials submitted by faculty. • Obtain the password to the course page from your professor and happy reading!

  16. InterLibrary Loan (ILL) • Can’t find the full-text article you need? • Request through our InterLibrary Loan Service! • Make your ILL requests as early as possible!
