  4. gLite Release I status • gLite Release I has been released officially 05/04/2005 • Contains 12 higher level functional services (deployment modules) • User Interface • Worker Node • Computing Element • Workload Management Node • …. • This release will be followed by: • Monthly releases containing either the bug fixes or new functionality • Quick fixes: Immediate fixes of the critical bugs • Each release contains the updated documentation and Release Notes 3rd EGEE conference, April, 18 – 23, Athens Greece

Training target audience • Training target audience can be divided into three main groups: • System administrators: People responsible for deployment of the gLite Middleware, its configuration and maintenance • gLite users: People using the middleware • gLite developers: Developers developing applications running on the gLite middleware 3rd EGEE conference, April, 18 – 23, Athens Greece

Proposed trainings I System administrators: Training on the gLite installation and configuration. • gLite architecture • gLite services/nodes • gLite deployment approach • gLite deployment modules • gLite deployment scenarios • gLite configuration approach • gLite configuration file (schema, syntax) • Local configuration • Site configuration • Proposed updates in configuration schema in gLite Release II • Standard techniques of gLite installation verification • Functional tests, installation validation • Site certification procedure • Site certification to become a EGEE site (should be provided by SA1) • gLite updates, quick fixes • Practical exercise • Setting up the ‘training’ site and verification of the basic functionality 3rd EGEE conference, April, 18 – 23, Athens Greece

Training implementation I • Trainings can profit from the existing LCG2 training experiences • Trainings should be prepared in very close collaboration: • NA3: Training know-how, previous experiences, • NA4/ARDA/Biomed: User needs, demonstrational applications, • SA1: Operational issues (deployment problems), site certification • JRA1/JRA3: gLite expertise • JRA1 inputs for the trainings • Documentation: JRA1 provides a set of documents • Presentations (gLite architecture) • gLite User and Installation guides: detailed description of installation and configuration procedures for each individual deployment unit • User/programmer guides for each service • WSDL documentation • Test cases 3rd EGEE conference, April, 18 – 23, Athens Greece

Training implementation II Technical realization of trainings • gLite trainings as they were proposed will need different infrastructure: • gLite administrators training needs the set of nodes to install the gLite middleware (~7 machines) • the rest requires an existence of the functional training testbed ‘Gilda’ Proposal of the realization: • NA3 produces a first set of course materials based on the documentation • Organize a joint session between JRA1 and NA3 to review this material (form to be decided) • Joint NA3 and JRA1 training session with a pilot user community Commitments of JRA1 concerning trainings: • Review of the material from NA3 • Help with the missing information • Limited tests on the prototype to help trainers to get started 3rd EGEE conference, April, 18 – 23, Athens Greece
