2. We had an idea to have a euchre tournament to fund new PA / sound system for the club. We got an overwhelming positive response and a bunch of commitments, next step is putting it into action by getting the word out. Here goes!We would like to have 64 players (minimum) to 88 players (maximum) at $25 per person going toward donation and prize money. It would be nice if each family would bring an appetizer to share. If you bring something to grill I hear we will have volunteer grillers helping out while we play. This will also be a BYOB event since that tends to work out pretty well.For 64 players the first $1000.00 will be a donation toward the Swim Club Sound System -remaining will be prize money. If we have more players it will split between donation for the club for other repairs and prize money proportionally.Remaining money and Euchre pot will go toward prizes (TBD by the Swim Club Board since many ideas came to mind and I want the ruling party to make the call).You will play as an individual by drawing a number at random and will be entered into a bracket (Excel spread sheet with a pre-determined rotation).You will play with random players at random tables per the bracket.The scoring will be BLIND. (You will not be given totals and nobody will know who has what. This will prevent giving up and dragging the other partners down if you give up).Each table will do 2 rotations with a predetermined time limit with a warning 5 minutes prior to end of round (rounds TBD). Five (5) minutes will be given to socialize and get to your next assigned table between rounds. If something comes up, we will have a sub or two to stand in for you but you get what you get.Total for 2-rounds (rotations around the table) will be scored which could be well above (10 points) so play aggressive, but beware Euchres cost .50 and go to the center so bring change.This is an event that can take a while so please don’t make other plans while playing. Also you ask, "why do it in August when the pool will be closing soon?" If we can get commitments along with your donation we will mark you down and you will not have to pay later. Once we hit the target donation, we will get the sound system so the sooner you commit the better. As you can imagine this can be a bunch of fun and will fill up fast so please sign up at the front desk as soon as possible with commitment and get your money in and we can jam at the club!!!!One last thing with this much time there is no excuse that you don’t know how to play, we have all summer at the club!If you just wish to make a donation toward the system, that will also be gratefully accepted.The players are also welcome to bring their families for a day of fun in the sun for $5.00 per person.Last day to sign up will be July 30th because we want everything to run smooth for the tournament.
