I am Alicia García Martos ,

1. I am Alicia García Martos, I represent Canastell High School in Comenius School Libraries Across Europe, in San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, Spain  I am currently the Library Coordinator and I think that the Library should be open to all. It should be able to provide everything anybody should need, whether it be for their studies, general reading, magazines or the Internet .… It should be a lively place with occasional activities available related to studies or general reading.  I am a french teacher, therefore I am always interested in new teaching methods brought about by new technology which increases the interaction between students and their teacher. I am always preparared to help the students by proposing more exciting activities in order to improve class interaction. I have worked at Canastell High School since 1990 I like to go to cinema, do sports, travel… I like to read especially historic novels and, of course, I love teaching  I am optimistic character

2. My name is Adrian Martínez Ramos,  In 1984, I graduated from the University of Alicante with a degree in Surgery and Medicine. I taught media Studies at intermediate and advanced level for 9 years and now I work at Canastell High School (San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, Spain).  I have worked here since 2006 as a careers official and represent the Department of Health at Canastell.  I am an active member in local societies which help look after the environment and I also organise events for students on Environmental Health courses, events which I, too, enjoy taking part in.

3. I am José Vicente García Gil, I work in Canastell High School, San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, Spain in the Comenius School Libraries Across Europe project. I am a teacher in Information Technology Therefore my students often use the internet as part of their studies. I think it is important that students are able to share their knowledge with students from different cultures. Using new technologies available to us, we can break geographical boundaries, bringing us closer to students from other countries and cultures. My main hobby is my work, in fact everything related to technology, I also like to grow grapes in my hometown.

4. My name is Paloma López Mardomingo. I teach in Canastell High School in San Vicente del Raspeig, Alicante, Spain, and ave worked in my school since 1989,  I am biology and biochemistry teacher. My students study Pest Control and Heath and Safety in the Workplace.  I am now interested in library resources and materials available for studies within the field of specialist sciences, as well as general reading, magazines and internet access.  I am always looking for ways to improve class interaction through new study techniques and advances in communication technologies.  In my free time I like to sing, I sing soprano in a choir. I also like to go to the cinema, travel and read- I love a good action novel or historical thriller.  I am a positive person, quite shy: I, like many, love animals and also to do my share in looking after the environment.

5. Juan Miguel Anoz Etayo, is a teacher with more than thirty years of experience in the fields of high school, university and professional area. He has served as coordinator of teams of teachers and as manager of teachers training, encouraging participation and coordinating exchanging experiences projects and professional development projects. He is convinced that the principle of teaching-learning process is motivation. For this reason he has promoted among students activities parallel to their classroom activities in various fields, as technical visits to companies, recreational activities such as sailing and skiing, and recently the inclusion and participation in the Comenius program, which aims to promote mobility and cooperation of students and teachers between schools at European level. Currently, he is member of the teaching team that implements the initial training plan, which targets young people with educational disadvantaget. He also teaches and supervises internships of students in training courses.

6. My name is Antonia Ñíguez Pamies and I have worked at Canastell High School for 1 year. I am currently a teacher of Information Technology. The face of technology is constantly changing and because of this, I believe that a library should be a meeting place in with one can find all types of information and technnology. In my free time I like to go to the mountains, travel and do sports.

7. My name is José Vicente Franco Burgos. I am a chemist by profession and in 1985 I came to Canastell High School to teach Physics and Chemistry. A few years later I became the Head of Studies and I still have that position. My job helps provide coherence and cohesion to the different parts of our education system such as teachers, students, fathers, local society and educational laws. My office is usually busy but I try my best to ensure as many problems as possible are resolved. And I usually get it. I also teach a subject called Atmospheric Contamination, Noises and Radiation, that subject form part of the Environmental Health courses at advanced level. Outside of work, I kike to spend time with my family, I specially like to travel and read all of the pages from the book of life. Another passion of mine is music, I do not have time to play instruments myself but I love to listen to my favourite artist and learn about rock and blues music, amongst others.

8. Hi, my name is Javier Albert. I am a physician, currently teaching industrial hygiene at IFPS Canastell High School in San Vicente del Raspeig (Alicante, Spain).   I have been working in the vocational training area for the last 24 years, mainly in the fields of environmental health and occupational risk prevention. Besides my teaching occupation I devote most of my labour time to the implementacion of educational quality standards in our school, which at present is ISO 9001:2000 certified.  I am specially interested in on-line technologies for e-learning and collaborative work within our institution. Currently we have several on-line courses and we are working to develop a total on-line administration system, including the access to our library resources.  I am fond of music (any kind, from classic to pop-rock or contemporary jazz) and although I am not a great cook, I spend part of my free time cooking for my family (rice dishes are my speciality) I like travelling and meeting people of different cultures.

9. I am Mª José Fernández Alcalá. I studied Pharmacy at the University Complutense of Madrid, and have worked at Canastell High School since 1990. I am teaching a course in Environmental Health, and my students learn to analyze the contamination of water and food. Now, I am interested in library resources and resources available and materials for my specialist study area, including: the environment, general reading, magazines or the Internet. Therefore I am always interested in new teaching methods brought about by new communication technology. I like intellectual activities to improve class interaction.  In my free time, I study English in the Official School of Languages I like going to the cinema, travelling, and reading books about science and nature. I am a very active person, and I am an Advocate of Environmental Protection. I like learning and teaching.

10. I am Manuel Matas Lledó. I have workedin Public Education since 1984 and have worked here at Canastell High School since 1988 as a teacher of Environment Specialities - water and food control. I also work at Canastell image and photograph activities.  I think that Comenius School Libraries Across Europe , is an interesting project which opens libraries to everyone meaning potential possibilities are endless. Examples being: books, on paper or digital format, educational videos, films which are no longer availables to buy in shops, cinema or TV, newspapers, magazines making the library an interesting and cultural environment. I find this is important in today’s society of video games and trash tv.  In Canastell High School the library is sufficient enough for students to be able to complete their vocacional training to a satisfactory level.  I like to partake in our high school’s extra curricular activities, such as educational visits, meetings in Alicante University, and environmental photo competitions supported by the high school and the council of San Vicente del Raspeig.  I like to walk in the countryside or on the beach with my family and friends, I also love photographic art, architecture, picture specially paintings by clasic and impressionist artist, and also to journey. I hope that in a few years time there will be a good working relationship between all countries involved in this project.
